About Lindsay Kate : CCO Staff at Juniata College
Walking alongside Juniata College students through four of the most foundational years of their life isn’t just my job—it’s my passion and a great honor. During these brief college years, students will make lifelong decisions about their friendships, relationships, careers, and faith. As students are faced with challenges, joys, struggles, and opportunities, I am able to encourage, pray, and lead them, always pointing back to scripture as the foundation we stand on.
If it weren’t for a CCO ministry at my undergraduate school, Edinboro University, I don’t know where I would be today. During my own four years of higher education, it was the ministry at Edinboro and the mentoring by CCO staff that encouraged me through the valleys, challenged me in the present moment, and equipped me to lead in the future. After I have been so graciously given such guidance and love, I am honored and thrilled to do likewise at Juniata College.
I love serving at Juniata. This beautiful liberal arts college is a small, tight-knit community of compassionate educators and extraordinary students. Working with the Chaplain through the campus ministry office has been a huge blessing as I connect with students across this campus who will be tomorrow’s leading biologists, environmentalists, educators, and doctors. Through intentional small group bible studies over meals I hope to dive into Scripture with all of it’s depth, wisdom, truth, power, and beauty in hopes that other students would grow in their faith and be challenged to lead other groups on campus. There is such a need for authentic community on campus and I see so many students who need to be plugged into ministry and a relationship with Christ. I feel like I’m just getting warmed up! My co-worker, Matt Ramsay, also serves with me to create community on campus for students looking to ask questions, develop their faith, and serve the Kingdom.
As part of my position, I partner with Standing Stone Coffee Company as a part-time manager. Through this partnership, I have connected with so many students I would have never met in the context of campus minister. Through serving students and the community with quality, fair trade coffee and delicious food, I am able to bring them into the process of learning about serving one another, our neighbors, and our Lord with dedication, faithfulness, and creativity.
